May means the end of another school year, the beginning of summer … and importantly for us, it’s when the proceeds from our store go out into the world to serve and support our community. This year our gift to the community is $500,000! The 78 agencies which received funding this month do the life-changing work of caring for the most vulnerable in our community and our world. They care for the sick; feed the hungry; shelter the homeless; provide safe haven for survivors of human trafficking; improve lives through education; and offer safe shelter for victims of domestic violence. You will very likely see well-known groups whose work is familiar to you. You will also see the names of non-profits about which you are not familiar. Each and every one of them is doing life-changing work for those on the margins; and we are proud to support their work.
Many shoppers these days find it increasingly important to patronize businesses that make a positive impact on their community. Our history of giving dates back to 1959, when after one year in business the St. Michael’s Woman’s Exchange gave away $2,200. And here we are, 67 years later, with cumulative giving exceeding $13 million! And how do we do it? As always, we do it by offering you, our customer, the beautiful gifts and decorative accessories you love. And if you walked out of the store with one of the 11,000 gifts we wrapped last year, we thank you for that too.
We invite you to shop with us this year as we all work together to make a difference in Dallas. All of the 130 volunteers who work all year long for the excitement that May brings thank you for your business, your loyalty and your friendship to the store! Remember, at The Exchange,
You're Shopping For Good.
